JOHNSON’s POST Entrance Logo

Johnson’s Post, Johnson’s Pos, die winkel – has a new look & a new logo. The old shop has a new set of work drabs & is ready for a new season of connecting people and playing host to the sounds of children’s laughter.

The shop exterior is painted in a khaki green colour, called Quagga, and this had been sourced from KleurSpace in George.

The interior walls are a lighter off-white, and this paint is called Great White, I imagine as the colour resembles something on the great animal itself. Perhaps the teeth. One can but wonder…

The logo has been lovingly crafted from the ground up by Hestia Hoffman from Melktertontwerp, and includes hand drawn images of the Cape Francolin, Tortoise and Cape Bitter Aloe.

The logo’s design has postal service roots – a wave in a stamp; the necessary fee for connecting people. The shop now: a venue for connecting people, and nurturing human interactions here, perched above the magnificent Vogelvlei.

The initials of the business: JP. Johnson’s Post.

Most importantly for this current occupant and custodian, the re-adornment of the original occupant’s name above the door: John McKenzie Johnson. To this man, and the others who have manned the till since inception, I hope I have done your building justice with it’s new look. I seek only to curate this very special landmark and destination in this time and place so as to continue the legacy of connecting people. We are all “en kie”.
