The winter cold fronts are pervasive this time of year. Rain last night and the air is cold. Fresh. It seeks your awareness.
Out of the house early and onto the beach with the dogs. This is where it starts to make sense again.
The program that governs the morning headspace has a strong tilt towards anxiety, apprehensiveness, fear. These feelings are learned overtime, reinforced.
I have to unpick this cloth.
Other people are at dis-ease on this day: with themselves and each other.
Not you.
You are aligned because you’re aware. Even if just for a moment. You are you. Whole. Worthy. Alive. And choosing. Capable of exercising choice with this awareness.
Your morning is set-up the evening before.
You do not own their dis-ease. Their discomfort.
But what of this anxiety?
There should be no need of it, surely?
It’s one day; one life, happening now, for now. Tomorrow is a dream. What control do we have over it? Over whether the sun will rise again for us? Zilch.
And on this day I would speak with Oempie. My friend, neighbour, professional associate, guide and mentor, truth seeker. Always in search of the light – waar’s jou liggie? Dave, ek het dit uiteindelik gekry reg hier voor my neus…. Waar dit altyd was…
In words better than my own, but brough to me by Oempie:
We pass through this world but once. Few tragedies can be more extensive than the stunting of life, few injustices deeper than the denial of an opportunity to strive or even to hope, by a limit imposed from without, but falsely identified as lying within |
Stephen Jay Gould, The Mismeasure of Man
And words from Gary Snyder:
Find your place on the planet. Dig in. And take responsibility from there.
Nicci Roberson and I have set 6 consultations for nutritional advice. Her words are simple, yet profound: we need to get your health and nutrition back on track ASAP…
Sessions begin Monday. Bringing back the awareness. The control. The power. Bringing the inflammation under control again.
Like the Ecto Containment Unit in Ghostbusters where they keep the ghosts, I also have a containment tank. Let’s call mine Bob.
Bob was the bomb in March 2024 when I read the 5:00 AM Club written by that man who knows how to take your money. And I was managing all sorts of crystal clear aquamarine blue self-awareness yoga positions and generally elastic flexibility moments. Laughing my ass off at 06.45 and bawling my eyes out by 07.20. A rollercoaster of feel-good, connected and seismic ahha moments.
Fast forward to Woman’s Day 2024 and I wrote myself a little note saying “for what you are about to do please retain the self-awareness because you’ve been on this rodeo before….”
Bob sprung a leak and it seems some of them ghosts escaped and have been playing havoc with me since.
I made a commitment to myself and to you and this new awareness together with my friends who are sharing a part of this journey with me – my fellow Ghostbusters – are helping me put the slimy green gremlins back in the chamber.
Bab Bob.
So we’ve connected Bob up to Solar and Wind and a diesel backup and we hope not to loose power over the Ecto Containment Unit again.
I lock and load and try again on a new day to keep the bugs out and the beauty in.
I recognize with a warm glow on my face, consciousness in my mind and love in my heart Nicci, Kjell, Dave.
